4 Telltale Signs That An Appliance Service Repair Is Needed For A Dishwasher

Some homeowners have the convenience of having a dishwasher installed in their homes. These handy appliances can make it easier to keep kitchens clean. This leaves homeowners time to pay attention to cleaning other areas of their homes. Dishwashers can last for many years as long as they are not misused, but even with the best care practices, repairs might be needed at some point.

Appliances may break down as they age and require replacement parts. This is often the result of normal wear and tear. Appliances are not designed to last forever, and it is reasonable to expect to replace them at some point. The following points highlight a few scenarios that are good indicators that an appliance service request for a dishwasher is needed.

Soap Dispenser Issues

The detergent or pod added to dishwashers is supposed to dispense in order to cleanse dishes. If it does not, the issue is likely related to a broken component, such as the spring of the dispenser.

Unclean Dishes

This is a clear sign that there is something wrong with the dishwasher. They are designed to clean dishes. Food should not be left on the dishes after a load of dishes has been through a cycle. Water has to spray on dishes and mix with detergent to clean the dishes. The water spray is ejected from the docking station. If this critical part gets broken, it cannot spray water to clean and rinse dishes. It is also possible for a portion of the dishes to be clean while some are left unclean.

Improper Drainage

This issue is usually related to a clog. Homeowners are encouraged to scrape food scraps off of plates, bowls, flatware, pots, and pans. However, some individuals may allow food scraps and particles to remain, which can lead to clogged hoses. A damaged hose may also cause drainage issues. Appliance service technicians can clear blockages from hoses or perform hose replacements.

Cloudy Residue on Dishes and Glasses

This phenomenon may be related to the type of detergent used or heating issues within the dishwasher. The latter is a repair issue that may require replacing the heating sensors in the unit or the heating element. If the water is at an incorrect temperature, the dishes/glasses will likely have a cloudy appearance despite being clean.

An appliance service technician is a good resource to use to diagnose dishwasher issues. They can determine the appropriate repair and source replacement parts if necessary. As a part of the appliance unit service, they may suggest upgrading if it is determined that the age of the unit is causing it to perform poorly.
